Emily Scullion (Director)

Emily moved to the North East from Ireland, initially to study architecture at Northumbria University, where she graduated with a distinction. Since then, she has become ARB (Architecture Registration Board) accredited after successfully completing the RIBA Part III course at Newcastle University. Prior to establishing Emily Scullion Architects, she was an integral team member at a North East based and RIBA award winning practice, where she specialised in the residential sector

Chris Brown (Co-Director)
BA(hons) MArch ARB RIBA
Chris is originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne and studied Architecture alongside Emily at Northumbria University. He is a qualified Architect and member of the RIBA (Royal institute of British Architects). Prior to joining the team, he worked for several award winning architectural practices in the North East. Chris specialises in innovative residential design with a sustainable agenda and has a track record of designing and delivering beautiful, practical, affordable, energy efficient buildings and extensions with budgets ranging up to £1.5 million.

Architecture
Emily Scullion Architects are based in the North East of England working nationally as well as in Ireland. We specialise in bespoke residential architecture at varying scales and project costs, from home extensions to new-build houses. We enjoy working with like minded people who share an enthusiasm for good design and our ethos is driven by a strong belief and determination to deliver the highest quality design solutions, responding creatively to each unique project brief and budget.

We pride ourselves on delivering meaningful spaces that not only fulfil the functional requirements but contribute positively to quality of life, environment and overall wellbeing.
Teaching
Emily maintains an active role in architectural education at Newcastle University where she leads an Architectural Design module for International Year One students, as well as contributing to teaching across various studios at the School of Architecture. Her passion for teaching stems from a desire to make a positive and meaningful impact on the next generation of designers.

Chris is a part time studio tutor at Northumbria University, teaching Architecture and Interior Architecture on both undergraduate and post-gratuduate courses.

Design Review Panel
Emily's enthusiasm for good quality design is supported by her membership in DesigneLtd where she is involved with design review panels across the North East of England. Working alongside other industry professionals to offer constructive, impartial and expert advice to local authorities, clients, developers and design teams with the aim of improving the overall quality of design in the built environment.
